I’m Bec Patterson, the face behind The Day Celebrant.
Here’s the lowdown on me.
I’m young, fun, a lover of love and a bloody good time! Based in Canberra, I love to travel the world, meet beautiful people and visit amazing places - so if you need any honeymoon destination tips then I’m your girl.
I used to be a wedding singer (with slightly better style than Adam Sandler). When the band broke up, I realised the wedding industry was still my calling. I missed the thrill of being a part of people’s big day. I decided to put my years of competitive public speaking (thanks Mum) and my love of meeting new people to good use. It’s been a wild ride to get here, but I’m now officially a celebrant!
I’m a people person who thrives on good vibes and great stories. I’m here to make you feel at ease and will definitely have your back! I want your big day to not only be remembered for the after party, but also for an unforgettable ceremony.

We’ll have a free, no obligation chat to see if I’m the right gal for your big day. We can do this over Zoom/Facetime or over the phone. Then we’ll lock it all in if you’re feeling the vibes!

We’ll go for a cheeky aperol spritz, beer or coffee! We’ll talk about your dreams and ideas for your big day and I’ll answer any more questions you might have for me. We’ll also get the ball rolling on the legal stuff like the “Notice of Intended Marriage.” You’ll need to get this form back to me at least a month before wedding day.
I’ll also need to sight proof of birth documentation (passports or original birth certificates) and if you’ve been married before, any relevant divorce or death certificates. Make sure to bring these with you.

After we meet, I’ll start creating a beautiful and unique ceremony for you. I’ll ask for your help to do this by sending you through a Couples Questionnaire, so you can spill the beans on your love story. This helps me create a ceremony that was truly written just for the two of you! If you’re writing personalised vows, I’ll also ask you to send them through a month before your wedding day, so I can make them pretty!

I’ll show up to your venue, set up, and touch base with you and your vendors before it’s show time. I’ll kick of the ceremony of your dreams, and we’ll make it legit!!

I’ll lodge all the legal documents and apply for your Official Marriage Certificate with the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages.

For intimate ceremonies – just you two and up to 30 guests
You get:
A super personal, full of realness and fun ceremony, up to 20 minutes, to make you and your guests feel that intimate love.
Up to two planning catchups to create that magic.
Lodgement of all the legal bits and pieces.
A PA, coz we want everyone to hear all the love.
Travel – included in my fee when the location from my home is within 30kms.
Fee: $850 (plus a little extra if I need to take an extended road trip).

Keeping it short and sweet with the legalities only
You get:
A meet up to have a chat about nuptials - and maybe a cheeky vino
A super cute, personalised ceremony up to 15 minutes for just the two of you, if you’re vibing it.
Lodgement of all the legal bits and pieces.
Up to 8 of only the best of the best guests if you’d like a little party! Don’t forget your all important witnesses!
In a beautiful Canberra location if your heart desires.

The FAQ’s

Your celebrant is one of the most important elements of your day! We are often busy, so it’s best to snatch up your celebrant ASAP. Book your celebrant once you’ve decided on your date, time and venue.
Keep in mind: the latest you can lodge your intention to marry is one month prior to your wedding date.

Book in a date and time with me so we can meet as soon as possible.
We’ll meet up and have a chat about the legal bits and pieces and get an idea what you’re looking for.
Get your ‘Notice of Intended Marriage’ completed as soon as you can. You’ll need to have it done no less than one month prior to your wedding day.

First and foremost, your ceremony is about you. I want you to be able to include any meaningful poems, readings and songs that you’d like to on the day. However on average, a ceremony will go for 20-25 minutes.

I’ll arrive at your ceremony venue 30-40 minutes before your start time. During this time, I’ll touch base with your vendors and make sure I’m ready to go!

I’ll fit in in with your dress code! If you have something particular in mind (like a certain dress code or colour scheme), I’ll work in with you to accommodate that. Any excuse to buy a new outfit is a great one!!

You don’t have to, but this adds a beautiful, personal touch to your day. Many couples choose to write their own vows for this reason. Some specific legals words must be included as part of the marriage vows, and we’ll incorporate these into your ceremony.

Anyone can be a witness, as long as they’re over the age of 18. We can even surprise your witnesses on the day and call them up to witness at the signing.

You’ll sign your usual name. You have to sign the marriage certificate before you can be considered legally married and eligible for a name change.

Sometimes these things (sadly) happen! If in the event I’m unable to be there on the day due to illness or other circumstances, I’ll arrange another celebrant to do the ceremony in my place. This person will be someone I know personally and who I’m confident will do an amazing job!
